Cloudberry

The mythical and rare cloudberry, Rubus chamaemorus. Referred to as one of the rarest fruits in the world for both where it grows and how it grows. This plant only grows North of the Artic circle and only produces 1 berry per plant. This plant also has separate male and female plants, with both required for fruit. It is not uncommon for entire fields of wild cloudberry to all be the same sex. If it weren’t for the fruit, it would be difficult for you to even tell this is in the raspberry family. Cloudberry only grows 10 inches tall, does not branch, and is thornless.

Growing this plant in a container will give you the best chance to mimic the plant’s pH, soil moisture, and cold requirements.
